How one can escape suffering
the goal of our practice is to transcend dukkha (suffering). Secondly, to be free from dukkha, we must extinguish its cause. How can we extinguish this cause? We must thoroughly understand dukkha. When we understand dukkha clearly, samudaya (cause of suffering) is automatically let go of. When we understand dukkha clearly, what do we know? Firstly, we know the existence of rūpa (form) and nāma (mental component) that come together to form our sense of self.
Secondly, we further understand that these rūpa and nāma that make up our sense of self are impermanent, dukkha, and anattā (non-self). If we can truly realize this, we will be free from dukkha. We will be free from clinging to these rūpa and nāma. If we are free from clinging to rūpa and nāma, we’ve essentially transcended the world, as the world is fundamentally composed of rūpa and nāma.
